The monthly D’n’B session called Better by the Pound is usually hosted by Beatski, but he had to pull out due to work commitments. It is the business end of the year year after all. Looking through some of the recent mixes before the program, one that jumped out was the Subtle Audio mix by Code (who heads up the label/pictured). PBS’s mandate is to support “under-represented music” in many forms. While it would have been easy to pick a well known mix, Ireland’s Subtle Audio is one of the lesser known labels which is highly deserving of a much higher profile, and also nicely fits this criteria.
The mix featured many favourites including Dissident, Polska plus Macc & dgoHn that you may have heard on other labels like Hospital or Rephlex and also covered a myriad of styles - jungle, downbeat, ambient, tech, experimental etc. See RA review for more.
Subtle Audio is an outlet for Drum and Bass in it’s most expressive form. We aim to release music that will work your mind as hard as your feet - and both at the same time! We hope to usurp many preconceptions of what Drum and Bass is supposed to be about with tunes that will continue to surprise ears long after their release.
