Summary: Sepalot, Onra, Proflogik, Elan, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie, Oknai, Ylem, Zhou, King Midas Sound, Super Feelers & Broken Bubble compilations, Anstam feature and interview w Speak Percussion about City Jungle.
Eugene from Speak Percussion was on the program to talk about City Jungle and play a selection of tracks from Terminal Sounds System’s Constructing Towers release, which you can see reproduced live on the night:
Using the full technical glory of the skydome of Melbourne’s Planetarium, this is a special festival event not to be missed! City Jungle is a groundbreaking and unlikely project bringing together the two major forces in contemporary Australian percussion, Synergy (Sydney) and Speak Percussion (Melbourne), in collaboration with the hypnotic beats of Terminal Sound System and Noxious Aquatic to explore the dramatic and intricate sound world of Jungle and Drum’n’Bass.
In Your Planet by Terminal Sound System
We also featured a number of tracks form the disturbingly dark and mysterious German outfit known as Anstam thanks to 50 Weapons, including their latest LP Dispel Dances. Check their Fact mix also.
What we can reveal is the fact that Anstam used to be a duo of 2 brothers from Germany. They’re responsible for a now legendary trilogy of 12″ releases in 2007-9 – ‘Brom’, ‘Aeto’ and ‘Cree’ – that assimilated the hardest, most dystopian flavours of dubstep, grime and junglism into a disciplined, techno-savvy framework that betrays their Berlin provenance.
