Summary: Moka Only & Chief, Easy Dada, Memorecks, Monk Fly, AK Kids, Kuhn, Fresh Yo!, rx:tx & Paper Chain compilations + Shogun ‘The Way of the Warrior’ mix.

This weeks focus was on Perth hip hop and beats label powerhouse Paper Chain People and their first compilation release, simply called Paper Chain Sampler Volume 1. With the city having been a drum’n’bass capitol for a long while its little wonder that the city is churning out some quality beats and bass via collectives like The Community and Paper Chain. We featured four tracks from the aforementioned label throughout the program (see below).

Another major segment of the program was The Way of the Warrior mix, thanks to D’n’B label Shogun who recently celebrated their 50th release. The milestone saw them release The Way of the Warrior (alt link) compilation and accompanying mix. Aside from the milestone being worthy of celebration and airplay, Icicle will be playing with London Elektricty and MC Wrec this coming Monday in Melbourne thanks to BBA. There are several Icicle tracks on the release/mix, including a Distance collaboration :) See the release promo video via youtube.
