The annual PBS FM Radio Festival has arrived! It is now up to you, the listener to save Melbourne’s airwaves from the bland oppressive miasma of mainstream radio. Every day music loving citizens of this city are subjected to playlisted, formulaic pop pulp, constant ad breaks, and loud, overbearing boom box voices. If you’re passionate about music from beyond the mainstream, get in to PBS.
This year’s PBS Radio Festival runs from May 14 to May 27. Become a hero by signing up and crusading against all things mundane and middle of the road.

Mirror State
Summary: Oh No, DOS4GW, Galapagoose, Astronaft, Slugabed, Data, Kutmah + Mirror State mix.
Reclusive young Melbourne producer Mirror State was on the program to talk up his recent release ‘Extension’ on Broken Bubble, one of our favourite new(ish) labels mind, as well as the Bass Rave later this month. Not present just for chatter he also performed a 50 odd minute mix for your eager ears. There was an small issue of one RCA cable being too short, so we had to improvise (see pic). Spoonbill & Dub FX
Summary: Spoonbill and Dub FX interview and tracks. New Fybe:One, Willow Beats, Clubroot, Grooki, Sook and Frank Riggio. Distance mix from TB Archive.
Spoonbill and Dub FX stopped in to talk up the imminent Oscillation 001 tour. Additionally, the duo dropped some of their production booty with Spoonbill showcasing tracks from his latest effort ‘Astro Archipelago’, the result of work on the Beat Booster game from/with Current Circus (see video below). Dub FX aired tracks to be featured on his upcoming DVD containing footage of his well known street performances, soon to be released via Convoy Unltd. For the unfamiliar see the Convoy youtube channel and or the BD Sessions.
This evening we also delved into the TB Archive for a dubstep mix from one of the movements pioneers - Distance (2009):
